Turtle Watch Trainers Training

A training of Trainers Workshop was conducted on the 21st of March 2016, in preparation for the Turquoise Expedition to the atolls of Maldives planned for this year and the following year. The training was conducted by the Marine Research Centre.

Throughout the training, volunteer trainers learned how to identify various species of Turtles as well as information about their nesting & hatching.

The Turquoise Expedition plans to reach all the atolls of the Maldives by visiting the local islands and training locals on the very pressing issues of Waste Management, Reef Monitoring in the face of climate change and Turtle Watch protocols.

Turtles will be protected under the Maldivian law effective 4th April 2016, under the Environmental Protection and Preservation Act.
